Church

March 30th, 2003 @ 5:16 PM in Rants

We, my mother and I, took my father to church today since he did’t have anything to do. I was quite surprised that he agreed to go. Well, if you ask me, ther’s no point of taking him to the church.

First of all, we go to an “English church,” so he does’t understand anything. He just sat there like a mannequin. He did’t stand up when everyone else did. What pissed me off the most is that he did’t stand up while the priest was “serving up” the Eucharist, not to mention during hominy. He just sat there even when others were exchanging peace (handshakes). Does he think h’s above God? So arrogant in my opinion… :(

And after church, we all went to see “The Hunted”. He said he does’t understand why I wanted to see a boring movie like that. But for crying out loud, how could I have known? Funny thing is, my mother and I thought it was pretty okay. He obviously did’t enjoy it as much as we did because he did’t understand the dialogues.

I did’t know your father does’t speak English Michael I thought after all these years spent in the states, one is bound to learn the language whether one wants to or not (no offense btw :) )

I just noticed that your daily reads has gotten much longer than the last time I saw it! ;)

:( I agree he should learn the language, especially if he is opening up a business…

Could you perhaps go to a Korean church if he wants to attend so he at least understands the sermon?
Sounds like he is just plain disrespectful of churches and religion in general…

Hell no, I won’t convert my religion just because of him. Besides, I don’t like “Christian” churches. No offense to other Christians however.

 I didn’t mean covert, I just thought maybe there was a church that was in your religion that did sermons in Korean….

But then again you said he was disrespectful in general…

Well, there is a Korean Catholic church in Tacoma which is about 30 minute drive away. And I don’t like Koreans, ironically, because most of them — especially elderly — see people with disabilities as “diseased”.
