I once told thee that I loved thee,
  And that my heart was all thine,
    But thou didst not return my words
      And broke my heart in two.

I sent thee a six-paged long letter
  Of romance--
  Tell me who else would
    Go through that trouble
      Just for thee
        But me.

Thou saidst thou were gladdened
  And that thy heart was touched,
