There has been an increase in news coverage regarding medicinal cannabis oil in 2013. This includes reports from CNN, ABC, CBS, CBS, and local media about high-cannabidiol cannabis oils effectively controlling the symptoms rare epileptic conditions like Dravet and Doose, infantile spasms as well as cortical dysplasia and infantile spasms. These diseases can cause seizures in the hundreds or thousands every week, and they also have a variety of developmental consequences. For families with children suffering from such conditions, the challenges are overwhelming. Traditional pharmaceuticals can be ineffective due to Dravet syndrome and other related disorders. They often make the problem worse. Families are turning to high-CBD cannabis oil as a last resort. It has shown remarkable efficacy and is providing hope for many families.
High-CBD cannabis oils are non-psychoactive, and may be even more beneficial than high THC cannabis oils. Cannabidiol (another cannabinoid from cannabis) is another. This cannabinoid, along with the psychoactive THC, has received significant research that suggests neuroprotective, anticancer, anti-ischemic and antispasmodic, as well as antipsychotic and antibacterial properties. Cannabis oil is also a form of cannabis extract. Concentrated cannabinoids can be consumed orally rather than smoked. This preserves medicinal compounds and allows them more easily to reach the digestive system than the respiratory system.
The research suggests that CBD has panacea-like properties, and in practice, this is proving to be the case. Sanjay Gupta made a CNN documentary on Charlotte Figi, which was released August 11, 2013. Charlotte was a Dravet disorder patient. She suffered from 300 grand mal seizures each week. This number is unaffected by any dietary or pharmaceutical changes. Charlotte’s parents learned about high-CBD cannabis oil, and after literally the first dose, Charlotte’s seizures stopped. She now has less than three minor seizures a month. This is an extraordinary case and not something that’s common. Dr. Margaret Gedde, a Colorado Springs physician, is tracking 11 new patients of the Stanely brothers, the providers of Charlotte’s high-CBD medicine. 9 of them experienced seizures reductions of 90-100%. Again, this is amazing.
CBD is being shown to be effective against epileptic seizures. It is extremely difficult for pharmaceuticals to produce any healing. High-CBD cannabis oil can reduce symptoms immediately. The only side effects are systemic benefits such as more energy, better learning and improved behavior.
This is not surprising considering that such results have been around for years. As research has shown cannabinoids to be effective in controlling epilepsy, so too is the evidence of their ability to control other serious diseases and eradicate cancers. And in practice, for epilepsy and these other conditions, the results are translating to humans. People have been reliably eliminating cancers for years and mitigating diseases like diabetes, Crohn’s, fibromyalgia, heart disease, chronic pain, multiple sclerosis, and more. This is as serious as it gets, and more attention must be brought to this issue.
